]]>Young farmers across the islands struggle not only to find land to farm, but also face huge price tags for lease and purchase. That doesn鈥檛 even account for the difficulties of making a living as a farmer. Meanwhile, Hawai驶i驶s average farmer is getting older and approaching retirement.
We hope to dispel the myths, explain the facts and explore solutions to this emerging and increasingly problematic barrier to increasing local food production. Our panelists include聽Laura Ediger of GoFarm Hawaii, Hayley Mckinnon of Ahiki Acres, Paul Reppun of Waianu Farm and Nick Reppun of K膩ko驶o 驶艑iwi. The event will be moderated by Civil Beat reporter Thomas Heaton.
